Vodafone Idea Expands 5G Services to Chandigarh and Patna; Delhi, Bengaluru Next in Line

Vi Partners With Samsung, Deploys AI-Based Network Optimisation to Boost 5G Rollout

Vodafone Idea (Vi) announced on Monday the expansion of its 5G services to two new Indian cities — Chandigarh and Patna — as part of its phased rollout strategy. Previously, Vi’s 5G services were limited to the Mumbai circle, where users experienced high-speed internet under select prepaid and postpaid plans.

The telecom operator, in partnership with Samsung, is deploying vRAN (virtualized Radio Access Network) technology for enhanced network flexibility and performance. Additionally, Vi has implemented an AI-based Self-Organizing Network (SON) system to optimize the performance and energy efficiency of its 5G network.

Vi 5G Rollout Details: Growing Adoption Across India

Starting April 28, Vi users in Chandigarh and Patna can access the company’s high-speed 5G services. This marks an important step as Vi accelerates its national 5G rollout. According to the company, over 70 percent of eligible users have already adopted Vi 5G, contributing to 20 percent of the total network traffic.

Vi also enabled 5G services in 11 major cricket stadiums across India to support connectivity demands during the ongoing IPL 2025 season, further boosting its network presence.

Looking ahead, Vodafone Idea plans to expand its 5G coverage to Bengaluru and Delhi next month, aligning with the increasing demand for 5G services and the growing penetration of 5G smartphones in India.

Vi 5G Tariff Plans and Introductory Offers

Vi’s 5G services are currently accessible under special introductory offers:

• Prepaid Users:

  • Plans starting at Rs. 299 per month, offering 1GB per day for 28 days.

• Postpaid Users:

  • The Max 451 Plan, priced at Rs. 451, offering 50GB data along with unlimited 5G data in coverage areas.

Vi has noted that the unlimited 5G data feature is part of a limited-time introductory offer, suggesting that future plan revisions could occur as the network matures.
