रोहित शर्मा के बाद दिग्गज बल्लेबाज विराट कोहली ने भी टेस्ट क्रिकेट से संन्यास की घोषणा कर दी है। उन्होंने इंग्लैंड दौरे से पहले टेस्ट क्रिकेट को अलविदा कहने का फैसला किया। इस बात की जानकारी कोहली ने सोशल मीडिया के जरिए दी। उनके इस निर्णय के बाद क्रिकेट जगत ने विराट को शुभकामनाएं दीं।

पूर्व भारतीय कप्तान ने पोस्ट करते हुए इंस्टाग्राम पर लिखा, ‘टेस्ट क्रिकेट में पहली बार बैगी ब्लू पहने हुए 14 साल हो चुके हैं। ईमानदारी से कहूं तो मैंने कभी नहीं सोचा था कि यह प्रारूप मुझे किस सफर पर ले जाएगा। इसने मेरी परीक्षा ली, मुझे आकार दिया और मुझे ऐसे सबक सिखाए, जिन्हें मैं जीवन भर साथ रखूंगा। ह्वाइट जर्सी में खेलना एक बहुत ही निजी अनुभव है। शांत परिश्रम, लंबे दिन, छोटे-छोटे पल, जिन्हें कोई नहीं देखता, लेकिन जो हमेशा आपके साथ रहते हैं।’

विराट ने आगे लिखा, ‘मैं इस फॉर्मेट से दूर हो रहा हूं, लेकिन यह आसान नहीं है। हालांकि, यह सही है। मैंने इसमें अपना सबकुछ दिया है, और इसने मुझे मेरी उम्मीद से कहीं ज़्यादा दिया है। मैं दिल से आभार के साथ जा रहा हूं- खेल के लिए, उन लोगों के लिए जिनके साथ मैंने मैदान साझा किया और हर एक व्यक्ति के लिए जिसने मुझे इस दौरान देखा। मैं हमेशा अपने टेस्ट करियर को मुस्कुराते हुए देखूंगा। #269, साइनिंग ऑफ।’
