Kundapura: An Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer originally from Someshwara in Byndoor, passed away due to a heart attack while on a trip to North India with his family and friends.
The deceased has been identified as Udaya Jogi (59).
He left on a 10-day tour with his wife and close friends when the unfortunate incident occurred. His mortal remains are expected to be brought back to his native place on Monday.
Jogi was residing in Manipal at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and two sons, both employed abroad.
He served as a Deputy Conservator of Forests in the Forest Department and held the additional charge of Divisional Officer at the Manguluru division of Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation (KCDC) since 2017. He also handled responsibilities in the Kumta range.
Earlier in his career, he had served in various positions in the forest regions of North Karnataka. He was due for retirement in December this year.
