US homeland security chief Kristi Noem's bag, with her passport, $3,000 cash, stolen from Washington restaurant

Top Donald Trump administration official Kristi Noem fell victim to a theft as her purse was stolen from a restaurant in Washington DC. The stolen purse had her driver’s license, medication, apartment keys, passport, DHS access badge, makeup bag, blank checks, and about $3,000 in cash, according to CNN, which was the first to report the theft.

Noem, who heads the crucial Department of Homeland Security (DHS), was at the restaurant for dinner on Sunday. At the White House's Easter Egg Roll, she acknowledged the incident when asked about it.

"The matter has not been resolved," the DHS secretary was quoted as saying.

'Unidentified white man' behind theft?

The Secret Service, which provides security for Noem, reviewed the eatery's security camera footage, on which they saw an "unknown white male" with a medical mask on steal her bag and leave the place, a law enforcement source said.

The Secret Service has launched an investigation to trace any use of Noem’s financial instruments, the person added.
