Ajman has introduced advanced smart speed limiters in taxis and limousines, making it the first emirate in the UAE to implement such a system. The devices automatically adjust a vehicle’s speed based on its real-time location and local speed limits, aiming to reduce risky driving and improve passenger safety.
How the system works
The smart devices identify the vehicle’s location in real time, compare it with permitted speed limits, and synchronise the speed automatically. Geographic range data is stored with high accuracy, and the system continuously updates to ensure compliance across different zones.

The system adjusts to varying road limits across the emirate:
The Ajman Transport Authority is implementing the system in phases, monitoring performance to ensure long-term success. The initiative marks a milestone in the emirate’s broader strategy to use technology to improve road safety and transport efficiency.
