NEW DELHI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday escalated his attack on Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi , claiming that the Congress leader's children are not Indian citizens. He also raised questions about Gogoi’s alleged visit to Pakistan.
"I have evidence that Gaurav Gogoi's son and daughter are not Indian citizens. We are examining what he did there (Pakistan) for 15 days. There is no tourism place in Pakistan; it is only a terrorist adda,” Sarma told ANI.
The BJP leader further alleged, "It is 100 per cent confirmed that he went there, but what did he do there in 15 days? Robert Vadra and Gaurav Gogoi are more concerned about Pakistan than India.”
Sarma’s comments come a day after he made a cryptic post on X writing: "I say this with full responsibility — the minor children of one Member of Parliament from Assam are no longer citizens of India. But this is just the beginning. There is much more yet to be revealed."
Earlier this week, Sarma questioned citizenship status of Gogoi's family members. He has been targetting Gogoi repeatedly, stating he would release evidence of the MP's alleged international visits to Pakistan and Nepal before September.
Gogoi has not yet responded to the allegations made by Sarma.
