JAMMU: Days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Jammu on June 6 to inaugurate the train service to Kashmir , a bomb threat triggered panic at Jammu Tawi railway station late Sunday. It was later discovered to be a hoax.
Officials said Monday that an unknown caller notified them about the presence of a bomb at the railway station the previous evening, following which Railway Police thoroughly combed the premises in search of explosives. Sniffer dogs and metal detectors were used in the search-and-sanitisation operation.
Security was stepped up in the area as well as the surrounding regions. “No explosive material was found at the railway station. The threat turned out to be a hoax,” said an official, adding that efforts were underway to trace the caller.
