A video of a 28-year-old software engineer from Bihar hitting an autorickshaw driver with slippers is going viral on the internet. According to the police, the incident occurred around 3:30pm on Saturday, May 31 in Bellandur, Bangalore. The woman in the video is identified as Pankhuri Mishra – a resident of Green Glen Layout who was arrested and later released on a station bail after the police recorded her statement.
What exactly happened
As per the police, Mishra and her husband were on a two-wheeler when they reportedly had a minor collision with an autorickshaw driven by 33-year-old Lokesh. According to Mishra, the auto had brushed past their vehicle, leading to a heated exchange.
In the video, the woman techie is heard asking, “Why are you taking video? Who gave you permission?”
To this, Lokesh replies, “From whom do I need to take permission?”
As the argument escalated, Lokesh began recording the altercation on his phone. Police said Mishra then allegedly removed her slippers and hit Lokesh, also assaulting him verbally.
Auto driver files complaint
Following the altercation, Lokesh approached the Bellandur police station and filed an official complaint. Based on his statement and preliminary evidence, including eyewitness accounts and video footage, the police arrested Mishra on Sunday. She was booked under relevant sections and released on station bail.
During questioning, Mishra told the police that she was pregnant and on her way to a medical check-up when the incident happened. However, authorities stated that her pregnancy claim is under verification and has not yet been confirmed by medical documentation.
