Jon Jones reacts to rumors of his involvement in Dana White's new ranking system- “Its undebatable”

On April 2, 2025, UFC President Dana White posted a video on X announcing the multi-year partnership with Meta. While the partnership aims at enhancing fan interaction and creating innovative content and experiences for the fans, it will also focus on developing a ranking system that will debut towards the later half of the year. This has stirred debates about whom the new ranking system is aimed at. Many fans believe that the UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones ’ current pound-for-pound ranking has played a major role in taking such a major decision.

Despite being away from the fighting circuit, he came back and successfully conquered the Octagon once again with a submission victory over Gane. Following his MMA record of 28-1-0, Jon Jones is currently placed at number 2 in the pound-for-pound ranking. He moved up to the 2nd position after securing a win against Stipe Miocic in November 2024. While Jones was still at the 3rd place, Dana White made a statement that indicated that he was not really happy with the rankings and plans to change the system altogether.

“Jon Jones is ranked No. 3 pound-for-pound in the (UFC). F—ing ridiculous, embarrassing, stupid, know-nothing-about-f—ing-fighting ranking of all f—cking time,” White expressed his discontent.


Following this statement, when White announced the partnership with Meta, fans started speculating if the Bone was the driving factor behind bringing such a change into the promotion. In a recent post by a fan page on Instagram, Happypunch, that talked about the proposed new ranking system, Jones commented, “It’s undebatable, tell these clowns Dana”. While the caption of the post read, “Dana White just officially announced the UFC will use AI for their rankings 😳 (SWIPE)”, it is quite obvious that Jones’ comment was directed towards the fans who were suggesting of Jones’ indirect involvement in the new ranking system.
