NEW DELHI: As Punjab Kings gear up to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the highly anticipated final of the Indian Premier League 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday, their captain Shreyas Iyer is winning hearts off the field as well.
A light-hearted video clip from The Great Indian Kapil Show featuring Shreyas and Rohit Sharma has gone viral across social media platforms, showcasing Iyer’s candid confession about the joy he feels when dismissing Team India seniors during the IPL.

Host Kapil Sharma asked Iyer, “When you take a catch to dismiss a senior player from the Indian team in the IPL, do you celebrate or act modest, like it just happened accidentally?”
Who's that IPL player?
With a grin, Shreyas replied, “I feel happy. I actually feel glad. We get yelled at in the Indian team (Jab team me itna gaali khaate hai), and then, when we get the same seniors out…”
Before he could finish, Rohit interjected with a smile, “I know he’s talking about me.”
To which Shreyas quipped, “Indeed, haan. Whenever I get a chance to get the seniors out, I enjoy it from the bottom of my heart.”
The moment has struck a chord with fans, and the clip went viral on social media.
On the field, Iyer has led PBKS to a dream season, topping the league table with 19 points and defeating Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 to reach their first final since 2014. RCB, meanwhile, are also seeking their first title after reaching the final via Qualifier 1.
With both teams yet to win an IPL trophy, Tuesday’s clash guarantees a new champion — and for Shreyas, it might just be another reason to celebrate, perhaps from the bottom of his heart again.
