Veteran actor Dilip Joshi, best known for playing Jethalal in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, once faced a tough phase in his career when he was out of work for a year and a half before landing the iconic role. In an old interview with Dr. Priti on her YouTube channel, he spoke about his life philosophy, inspired by a line from Harivansh Rai Bachchan: "Mann ho toh accha, mann ka na ho toh aur bhi accha," which he truly believes in. He also shared a memorable story from the time before he joined the popular show.
Speaking about the same, he shared, "The best and key to get rid of stress is to just go with the flow. Usually we get stressed because we keep thinking about future and when something doesn’t happen as per our plan we get worried and upset. So for my motto in life is Agar Mann ka ho toh accha hai aur Mann ka na ho toh aur bhi accha, which I heard from Mr Bachchan in one of his interviews many years ago. This was told to him by his father. In life even I used to get upset when I couldn’t achieve something. But when I heard this I started to implement it in my life slowly, I realised it is working and it is goldmine. Then I consciously started to see how effective it is. Unn Dino agar koi film, serial yaa play ke liye offer aati thi main excited hota tha aur phir woh work out nahi hoti thi for some reasons then used to get upset. But after a few days I would bag something which was more substantial. Then I used to think agar woh Kar liya hota toh ye main nahi kar paata. Toh joh mann ka ho toh accha aur na ho toh aur bhi accha."
Dilip Joshi also recalled a memorable moment from his struggling days when he was offered a promising role that, unfortunately, didn’t materialize. He admitted feeling quite disheartened at the time. However, not long after, he was cast as Jethalal in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, a role that changed his life. The experience reinforced his belief in the saying, "Mann ho toh accha, mann ka na ho toh aur bhi accha." He shared, "Like if I talk about Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltqh Chashmah, before this show happened to me, I was offered something which was very good. That time I was in need of work as I was unemployed for close to one and half years. Even after 20-24 years of experience in this field, I had no work. It was a period when I was out of job and during that time I got an offer which was very lucrative and for some reason it did not workout. And I was like yaar aise moment par bhi Bhagwan kya pariksha le raha hai. But soon I bagged TMKOC and that time I realised that when God plans for you it is good. This is the key to beat the stress Mann ka ho toh accha aur Mann ka na ho toh aur bhi accha…"
