Mangaluru: The SDPI staged a protest in the city on Wednesday, rallying against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. With voices raised, a large number of members condemned the govt's push to implement the bill despite nationwide opposition.
The protestors addressing the gathering said, "This is not just legislation; it is an agenda to rob us of our rights." An SDPI leader said they fought against NRC and CAA, and now, this is a do-or-die battle. "We will not bow before the Sangh Parivar. We will live with respect and fight to protect every inch of waqf property and fight against the unconstitutional bill," the protesters said.
They said protests were held across the country. SDPI members chanted slogans of unity, vowing to resist what they called an "unconstitutional assault" on heritage. "This bill is nothing but an attempt to swallow waqf property. We will not allow it. Our fight is just beginning," they warned.
