Kozhikode: Congress leadership in the state will hold talks with former Nilambur MLA PV Anvar on Wednesday, amid the demand for inclusion of the Trinamool Congress into the UDF before the Nilambur assembly bypoll.
According to sources, opposition leader VD Satheesan and senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, among others, are expected to hold talks with Anvar in Thiruvananthapuram.
Anvar had intensified his demand that the party should be included in the UDF before the bypoll, with party leaders stating that the Congress should make it clear if they want Trinamool Congress in the UDF or not before the election.
However, Congress leaders had informed Anvar about the difficulties involved in the inclusion of the Trinamool Congress state unit in the front, as it would need approval from the Congress high command. There were challenges in this regard, given the stand taken by Trinamool Congress head and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.
According to sources, the Congress leaders have sent across the message to Anvar that he can be supported by the UDF as an independent or he should float a Kerala-based party, which would make his inclusion into the front easier.
