Contractor's suicide: Dad seeks to withdraw plaint

Jaipur: A day after 42-year-old contractor Bharat Kumar Saini died by suicide from the 14th floor of a residential tower in Jaipur, his father has urged to withdraw the FIR filed in connection with the incident, saying it was lodged "in haste".

Sources said that a compromise was reached between the father and the RAS officer who was accused by the deceased contractor of harassment.

In a handwritten letter to police, Saini's father, requested that no action be taken on the complaint. "I don't want any action in the matter. I am withdrawing my complaint without any pressure or fear," he wrote.

Saini had named Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer Mukta Rao in a suicide note, accusing her of withholding Rs18.60 lakh in payments for interior work at her flat. He cited financial distress and an inability to repay vendors or reclaim his wife's pawned jewellery as reasons behind his extreme step.

Bindayka SHO Vinod Varma confirmed receiving the withdrawal letter on Saturday. The original FIR, filed Friday, did not name any individual but was based on the content of Saini's suicide note.

Police said the investigation remains underway. "We are examining all related financial records, bank statements, and CCTV footage mentioned in the suicide note," an officer said.

The father told media persons that the money owned to his son has now been paid by the other party, so he didn't want to pursue the matter further.
