Gatwick Airport station has been evacuated due to overcrowding after two major rail incidents. Network Rail said: "We're sorry to say that two tragic incidents today mean delays and disruption to trains to and from Gatwick Airport. We are working with emergency services to get the railway open safely and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people involved." Trains being operated by ThamesLink, Southern Rail and Gatwick Express have been cancelled or delayed by up to two hours.
A spokesperson for Gatwick Airport said: "Due to an ongoing incident at Three Bridges train station [in West Sussex], Gatwick Airport train station is currently closed. All northbound and southbound train services are suspended. Passengers are advised to allow extra time when travelling to the airport and use local buses or taxis where available. Please check real-time travel updates using the National Rail Journey Planner."
