India Welcomes Sushila Karki as Nepal's First Woman Interim Prime Minister after Violent Unrest

India has officially welcomed the appointment of Sushila Karki as Nepal’s interim Prime Minister, following a period of violent anti-corruption protests and political turmoil in the Himalayan nation. After widespread demonstrations—mainly led by the youth and catalyzed by frustration over a social media ban and escalating corruption—Nepal’s former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned, and Sushila Karki was appointed as the country’s first woman Prime Minister.
