Cleaning an oven can be a right faff, especially when it's caked in grease and burnt food bits, but there's a nifty trick to shift even the most stubborn stains.
Grease and other cooking splatters are usually oil-based, which means they repel water, so most cleaning products won't do the job and you'll end up scrubbing your ovenfor years. However, Louise Petty, a cleaning expert from High Speed Training, has revealed that getting rid of these greasy and charred marks can be a doddle if you usebaking soda.
She said: "Natural oven cleaners can be just as effective as chemical products and are often half the price. Making a simple baking soda paste and then spraying the oven with vinegar or lemon juice can remove burnt-on foods without causing health and safety hazards."

When oven stains are blasted at high temperatures in the oven, they harden and become acidic, making them a nightmare to clean. But, baking soda is an alkaline substance, meaning it will break down the acidic fats in oven stains and make the task of cleaning the oven a piece of cake.
Baking soda alone can shift grease, but you have to let it sit on the stains for hours, and for top-notch results, leave it overnight. If you're after a quick oven clean, it's more effective to also mix baking soda with something acidic like white vinegar or lemon juice.
When bicarbonate of soda is combined with an acidic substance, it starts to fizz, helping to shift grime and soften stubborn stains, ensuring your oven will be sparkling clean in no time, reports the Express.

All you need to do is mix together bicarbonate of soda and water in a bowl until it forms a paste. Then, smear the paste onto the door and bottom of the oven.
The longer you leave the bicarbonate of soda paste, the more effective it will be. It's fine to leave it for just a few minutes, but if you haven't cleaned your oven in a while, let it sit overnight.
When the time is up, pour some white vinegar or lemon juice into an empty spray bottle. Spritz the solution on the bicarbonate of soda paste and it will start to fizz up.
Wait until the fizzing stops, then use a clean damp cloth to wipe away the solution. The stains should crumble away easily and be a doddle to remove. Your oven should be gleaming and spotless with just a bit of elbow grease, so you'll never have to fret about cleaning those baked-on grease stains ever again.
