Emmerdale 'reveals' secret killer's next target in sinister scene after arrest twist

Send Push

John Sugden may strike again on , amid an arrest twist and a worrying threat.

His killer crime against Nate Robinson was exposed in a nightmare that saw PC Swirling arrest him on his wedding day. Of course this wasn't real, but the real arrest possibly looms as Nate's body will soon be found in the lake.

But another dark secret could come out very soon too, amid John's ex Aidan Moore waking from his coma at the hospital. With his nightmare about his arrest weighing heavily on Monday night, we saw John even more nervous ahead of his wedding as Aidan's mother Cathleen showed up.

In recent episodes we learned Aidan was awake after years in a coma, despite doctors believing he would never regain consciousness. With it feared he may have suffered brain damage, his mother Cathleen was encouraged when he appeared to know who she was.

The character is currently non-verbal, but it was painfully obvious he remembered John too. Not only that, but his reaction to John hinted at what really led to the accident that left him in a coma.

He seemed panicked about seeing John, while Cathleen has been encouraging John to visit him - unaware of the truth. Fans are now convinced John injured Aidan on purpose, while he's no doubt fearing Aidan will expose whatever he did.

John was keen to keep away from the hospital and just wanted to make to down the aisle, but Cathleen had other ideas. When she learned John was marrying Aaron Dingle she was shocked and accused him of cheating.

John said this was not the case, and he'd been led to believe Aidan would not survive and had to move on, finding love with Aaron. It's clear Cathleen was under the impression John and former fiancé Aidan would pick up where they left off.

But John's refusal to accompany her to the hospital to "help" Aidan left her rattled and furious. She started causing a scene in the village and as things got heated with John, she vowed she would not leave unless he helped Aidan.

Sinister music played as an angry expression swept across John's face, with him staring at Cathleen as she vowed to get her own way. The episode ended there, but is Cathleen about to meet a grisly end?

With Aidan currently not speaking and Cathleen the one encouraging his recovery and for John to be a part of Aidan's life, kicking up a fuss when he refuses, could it lead to Cathleen being silenced? It comes as John actor Oliver Farnworth told The his soap alter ego has sparked quite the reaction with the public

While many viewers have been talking to him out and about, wanting all the latest on the plot and wanting to have their say, other fans are clearly not able to get past the fact Oliver and John are not the same person. Oliver confessed people have actively avoided him in public, especially after it was revealed onscreen that John had murdered Nate.

He explained of the reaction he's been getting from fans: "I think initially the good thing from my point of view was having Victoria there as an anchor point and then the relationship with Aaron, because they’re really well-established characters that everyone loves. It was a gift in terms of being able to come in and play scenes with them. I enjoyed the development of both of those two relationships.

"More and more as things have been revealed I get people crossing the street! The reaction’s been great and people are really interested in where it’s going."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on , , , , , and .
