Fans have regularly hit out at Ancelotti's tactics and an increasing number are calling for him to go. The Italian was in a philosophical mood about a possible exit after the match though, saying: "It could be this year, next year when my contract runs out. There's no problem about it.
"But when I am done here, I will be grateful to this club. It could be tomorrow, in one year, or in 10 years, but I will be grateful to this club. And that's it. Full stop.
"We have done very well in the last seasons but this year we have had to suffer. Things haven't gone as expected but in sport in happen because there are no unbeatable teams.

"Arsenal were better than us. We tried to do our best. Maybe the overturned penalty (when was initiallt penalised for a foul on Kylian Mbappe) was a turning point. That could have changed it.
"But Arsenal defended very well. We found it difficult to find spaces. We were better than normal in our intensity level but it wasn't enough."
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois insists the squad remain behind manager Ancelotti, saying: "There's no problem there, we have no doubts about the manager. It's up to us on the pitch to do what he asks of us."
The Belgian : "At half-time we felt that if we had scored the first goal the tie would have been open, in the end they found the first goal, we tied it quickly, you keep believing but we weren't successful up front, I don't think (David) Raya had to make a single great save. We lost against a superior and we have to accept it.

"In the end, they're a team that defends well, is well organised, presses well, and it's difficult to find space. We put in a lot of crosses, but this year we don't have Joselu, a natural striker up front.
"We have to analyse carefully what we can do better. We have a lot of season ahead of us, we have the League on the line, the Cup in ten days, and then the Club World Cup. We thank the fans. Thinking about a comeback was great, and I hope we can bring them some joy this season."
