Moradabad: The UP Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) has arrested a Rampur district resident, for allegedly operating as a Pakistani ISI agent. Investigations reveal the suspect made repeated cross-border trips under the guise of trading cosmetics and spices while transmitting sensitive security information.
ATS officials confirmed that he facilitated espionage networks by procuring Indian SIM cards for foreign operatives and recruiting locals for ISI operations. His activities came under surveillance after intelligence flagged suspicious border movements.
An FIR has been registered under Sections 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapons) and 152 (assaulting public servant) of IPC at ATS Lucknow. The accused was produced before a local court for remand proceedings. Forensic examination of his electronic devices is underway to identify potential accomplices. -
