The Maharashtra unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a comprehensive week-long program to commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar, one of India’s most revered women rulers. The celebrations, scheduled from May 21 to May 30, 2025, will feature a mix of cultural, educational, and social initiatives across the state.
The festivities began on May 21 with the inauguration of a memorial in Ahilyabai’s birthplace, Chondi in Ahmednagar district. State BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule, along with MPs, MLAs, corporators, and party office bearers, attended the event.
A two-day “Sanskriti Gaurav Yatra,” showcasing an exhibition on Rajmata Ahilyabai’s life and contributions, will be held on May 22 and 23 under the leadership of Sudhir Mungantiwar, the state in-charge for the initiative.
Youth and women’s conferences are scheduled for May 25 at the district level. Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will lead the youth conference, while senior BJP leader Pankaja Munde will head the women’s conference.
To further engage the community, a cultural and art competition will be conducted between May 21 and 30 at the mandal (local unit) level. This segment will be overseen by Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who also holds charge of the party’s teachers and cultural cells.
Recognizing the power of digital outreach, a special social media and media campaign will run from May 27 to 30 to highlight Ahilyabai Holkar’s legacy. The campaign will be coordinated by state leaders Prasad Gawande and Hetal Shah, along with various party departments including IT, legal, and intellectual cells.
Additionally, exhibitions on Rajmata Ahilyabai’s life and achievements will be held in all districts during the course of the program. These will be organized under the guidance of Dr. Neelam Gorhe and supported by the party’s women’s development, industrial, and railway cells.
"The BJP aims to honor the enduring legacy of Ahilyabai Holkar, whose governance, philanthropy, and devotion to public welfare have left an indelible mark on Indian history," said an office bearer. BJP Launches Statewide Week-Long Celebrations for Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar’s 300th Birth Anniversary.
