Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The much-awaited election to the post of BJP’s state unit president may be held next month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is arriving at Bhopal on May 31. The state party president may be elected after Modi’s trip.
The Tiranga Yatras being taken out by the BJP in different parts of the state will also conclude by that time. The BJP stopped the election process because of the Pahalgam massacre by the terrorists and India’s military action against Pakistan thereafter.
BJP stopped all the internal elections at the national and state levels. The party may restart the election process in the organisation next month.
Sources in the BJP said the party would decide whether a new state president would be elected or the tenure of the present president would be extended for some time more.
As the party did not hold the election, the aspirants for the post of the state president went into silence.
Those who are aspiring for the post have plunged into action after the restarting of political activities in the party.
According to sources, a legislator from Betul, Hemant Khandelwal, is still ahead of others in the race for the post of state president.
Apart from Khandelwal, the party leadership is mulling over the names of some tribal leaders for the post.
