Patna: Two days ahead of the last date of filing nomination papers for the first phase of Bihar assembly elections, all eyes are on the rebels. Reports about resentment among ticket aspirants are coming from almost every part of the state.
The three major parties - ruling BJP and JDU and the main opposition RJD - are keeping a close eye on the possible rebels.
In the first phase of polls on November 6, around 121 assembly seats will go to polls. While NDA has announced its candidates for the first phase, the alliance partners of the main Opposition - RJD, Congress and Left parties - are silently distributing symbols of their parties concerned.
"There is consensus among the alliance partners and thus symbols are given to candidates for contesting such seats," a source in the Opposition camp said.
Since BJP and JDU have formally released the list, they are facing resentment from leaders who were in the race but didn't secure a ticket.
JDU leader and former minister Jai Kumar Singh, who was elected to the assembly from Dinara in Shahabad, openly aired his grievances three days ago and subsequently resigned from the party. He may contest from Dinara as an independent. Singh's problem is that Dinara has gone to NDA ally RLM headed by Upendra Kushwaha. Senior BJP leader Rajendra Singh was also eyeing this seat. Sources close to BJP's Singh said he is in touch with his supporters in Dinara before taking a final call.
Similarly, BJP leader of Muzaffarpur district, Suresh Sharma, is also unhappy as the party has given a ticket to former district chief Ranjan Kumar. Sharma is likely to announce his next step on Friday.
BJP also has trouble in Brahampur seat of Buxar district. Satya Prakash Tewari, an aspirant for a BJP ticket, has secured a ticket from Jan Suraj. The seat has been given to Chirag Paswan's LJP (R) which has fielded Hullas Pandey. Bhojpuri singer And wife join RJD
