A day after her suspension from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi ( BRS), K. Kavitha on Wednesday sharpened her attack on the party leadership, accusing her cousins of corruption and her brother of failing to defend her when she was subjected to what she called a “malicious campaign.”
Addressing the media in Hyderabad, Kavitha claimed that a CBI probe against her father and BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao was triggered by the “corruption” of her cousins Harish Rao and Santosh Rao. She cautioned her brother and party working president K.T. Rama Rao not to place his trust in them.
“Suspended BRS leader Kavitha sharpens attack against cousins Harish Rao, Santosh, tells brother Rama Rao they are not well-wishers,” she said, insisting that internal betrayals had contributed to the party’s present troubles.
Kavitha also reiterated her personal grievances, saying: “Ever since my release from Tihar jail, I have been fighting for various causes. My own brother Rama Rao did not stand by me when a malicious campaign was unleashed against me.”

On Tuesday, the BRS had announced her suspension, citing “recent behavior and ongoing anti-party activities” that were said to be damaging the party’s interests.
The decision, taken by BRS President K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was conveyed in a statement issued from Telangana Bhavan and signed by Chief Secretary T. Ravinder Rao on behalf of the disciplinary committee.
The party did not spell out the specific incidents that led to the action.
Kavitha, daughter of KCR and a former MLC, has long been a prominent face of the party, though her relationship with the leadership has frayed in recent years.
Earlier this year, she alleged that efforts were made to merge the BRS with the BJP while she was in prison—an idea she claimed to have rejected, arguing that the BRS “carries the spirit of Telangana” and should never be subsumed by a national party.
Her remarks hinted at deepening internal rifts, particularly with her brother Rama Rao. Kavitha has repeatedly questioned the silence of senior leaders during her incarceration and public criticism, and accused some of actively working to undermine her political career—including her 2019 Lok Sabha defeat in Nizamabad.
