Jalandhar (Punjab) [India], April 10 (ANI): A blast was reported outside the house of Punjab BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar on Tuesday.
While the Punjab police have launched an investigation, Kalia on Wednesday said that he has not seen the CCTV footage of the incident but wants primitive measures from the Punjab police so that such incidents can be prevented in the future.
Kalia said that he had spoken to Home Minister Amit Shah and was informed that central agencies were already on the matter.
"I have not seen the CCTV footage... I want preemptive vigilance from the Punjab police so such incidents can be avoided in the future... I spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday. He informed me that central agencies are deployed on this...", the BJP leader told reporters on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini met Manoranjan Kalia on Tuesday and slammed to Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab and said that it is the failure of the state government and people are waiting for elections.
Nayab Singh Saini said, "It is an unfortunate incident. Punjab has also faced this in the past. It is the government's responsibility to maintain law and order. This is the failure of the government. Law and order have collapsed in Punjab. There is an atmosphere of fear in Punjab. The people are waiting for the elections."
On Tuesday, the Punjab Police apprehended the main accused in the grenade attack on the residence of former Punjab minister and BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandar, said the sources in the police, adding that the attack was the handiwork of Pakistan's intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence, to spoil religious harmony in the State.
According to the sources, the mastermind of the attack is identified as Zeeshan Akhtar, who is a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The sources said that the attack was a "cross-border planned attack."
Akhtar is also wanted in the NCP leader Baba Siddique's murder case. (ANI)
